The 155th Sukta of the First Mandala of the Rigveda extols the glory of Swayambhagwan Shree Trivikram, proclaiming:

“Again and again, we sing the praises of the compassionate, protective, invincible and magnanimous Trivikram, who, in three divine steps, encompassed the three worlds for the welfare of the entire universe.”

The Trivikrama Vishnu Sukta beautifully describes the three divine footsteps and the three glorious exploits (त्रिषु विक्रमणेषु-Trishu Vikramaneshu) of Swayambhagwan Shree Trivikram. It proclaims:

“However much I may speak of Vishnu's mighty deeds, it can never be enough. He has pervaded all the worlds. Not only that, He alone upholds even the highest celestial realm. With just three distinct steps, He has encompassed the entirety of creation.”

From the Vedas and Upanishads to the Puranas and other sacred scriptures, the Trivikrama Tattva (essence and principle of Trivikram) has been beautifully explained by sages, seers and commentators. References to this divine principle are found in the Rigveda, Purusha Sukta, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, Shvetashvatara Upanishad, Chandogya Upanishad, Mandukya Upanishad, Narada Bhakti Sutra, Vishnu Purana, Shrimad Bhagavata Mahapurana, Narada Purana, Mahabharata, Harivamsha, Bhagavad Gita, Valmiki Ramayana, Anand Ramayana, Adbhuta Ramayana, Adhyatma Ramayana, Ramraksha and numerous other revered scriptures.

In his series of editorials titled Tulsipatra, Sadguru Shree Aniruddha explains the significance of Swayambhagwan Trivikram in these words:

“The ‘Original ShreeGuru’ is Bhagwan Shree Dattatreya, while the ‘Original Sadguru’ is Shree Trivikram.”

Explaining the significance of Trivikram's three divine footsteps for every human being, Sadguru Shree Aniruddha further writes that:

Swayambhagwan Trivikram is capable of crossing any distance in just three steps. He is ever ready to come running the very moment a Shraddhavan calls upon Him. In other words, He always remains just three steps away from every Shraddhavan. This Trivikram belongs entirely to His devotee. He has come solely for the devotee and remains ever ready to become his constant support.

As a person progresses in both worldly life and spirituality, becoming happier, stronger and more fulfilled, the Sadguru Principle, embodied as Bhagwan Trivikram, lovingly binds the devotee to Himself and protects the true Shraddhavan from every adversity.

Describing the significance of worshipping Swayambhagwan Trivikram, Sadguru Shree Aniruddha says that the Poojan, Upasana and devotion offered to Trivikram constitute an assured path to overcoming every form of deficiency, helplessness, and weakness in the life of a Shraddhavan.

Shree Trivikram Himself is in Saguna form(means in form and with divine attributes) and is eternally filled with nine divine wealths and opulences (Nava-Ankura Aishwaryas). Swayambhagwan Trivikram rewards His devotees with fourfold the faith and trust they repose in Him, and yet His boundless treasury of the Nava-Ankura Aishwaryas remains forever inexhaustible.

The worship of Trivikram is therefore not merely the worship of a sacred form (Saakaar) or image; it is the worship of the Saguna, i.e. the worship of sacred and divine attibutes themselves, enabling the devotee to imbibe those very qualities.

Through such worship, devotees not only make their own lives joyful, contented, strong and auspicious, but also become a source for the welfare of others.

Thus, Swayambhagwan Trivikram, whose very first three footsteps are Unconditional Compassion, Forgiveness and the Acceptance of singularly focused bhakti, becomes the sacred embodiment of a happy, strong and blessed life for every Shraddhavan. He is the threefold support available exclusively to the devotee in this three-dimensional world, providing support at the physical, subtle and causal levels while encompassing every dimension of existence.

In Bharat, the glory and importance of the Sadguru's Padukas and His sacred feet are beyond measure. Every devotee cherishes the heartfelt desire to worship the sacred feet of the Sadguru. On the supremely sacred occasion of Guru Pournima, the darshan and worship of the Sadguru's holy feet hold a place of the highest reverence in the hearts of devotees. The heartfelt prayer behind this worship is that the grace and divine power of the Sadguru's sacred feet may become ever-active in one's life, guiding, protecting, and transforming it.
