Lord Krishna Himself, the Jagadguru, declares in the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita
Masanam Margashirsho'ham
मासानां मार्गशीर्षोऽहम्
"Among all the months, I am the month of Margashirsha."
It is traditionally believed that the Bhagavad Gita was revealed by the Bhagwan Krishna to Arjuna on Margashirsha Shukla Ekadashi. Margashirsha Shukla Panchami is revered as the day of the divine wedding of Prabhu Rama and Janaki (Sita) Maa, and is celebrated as Vivah Panchami or Ram Vivahotsav. It is also believed that on the full moon day of Margashirsha, Shree Dattatreya was incarnated as the son of Sage Atri and Mother Anasuya. On this very day, it is said that Mother Annapurna was manifested. Thus, the month of Margashirsha holds immense spiritual significance.
A restless mind is unable to use its three powers viz. Power of imagination, power of observation, and power to decide appropriately. Its imagination becomes disconnected from reality, its observations fail to perceive things as they truly are, and it cannot make sound decisions. Wrong imagination, incorrect observation, and improper judgement make life full of suffering and deprive us of true joy.
During Sachchidanandotsav, Shraddhavans worship the Padukas of Sadguru Shree Aniruddha while reciting the Aniruddha Atharvastotra and the Aniruddha Ashtottarashata Namavali, thereby cultivating propriety and positivity in life.
The threefold afflictions (Tritapa) viz. Adhyatmika (arising from oneself), Adhidaivika (arising from divine or cosmic forces), and Adhibhautika (arising from the external world) make human life burdensome and rob it of happiness. The Shraddhavan who surrenders to the Sachchidananda Sadguru Tattva is liberated from these three kinds of suffering, and the Sadguru fills that devotee's life with bliss.
Every year, Shraddhavans celebrate Sachchidanandotsav with devotion, enthusiasm, and joy, praying that their journey on the path of divine may be filled with bliss and that they may attain its highest destination—growing ever closer to the Sachchidananda Sadguru and abiding in His loving friendliness.
At the holy feet of the Sachchidananda Sadguru, Shraddhavans offer this prayer:
प्रेमस्वरूपा तव शरणम् । पुरुषार्थरूपा तव शरणम् ।
शरणागतत्रितापहरा । सच्चिदानन्दा तव शरणम् ॥
