The Divine Form of Mata Shivagangagauri
Mata Shivagangagauri is depicted seated in Padmasana (the lotus posture). Her vehicle is the crocodile (Makara), and She is also revered as Rudraganga. She is Trinetri (three-eyed), with Her third eye representing the Sudhabdhi Sagar—the Ocean of Divine Nectar.
Behind the deity stands the Gangadhwaj (Sacred Flag of Ganga) bearing the emblem of the crocodile. This sacred flag was established by Sadguru Shree Aniruddha Bapu during the Prasannotsav. Mata Shivagangagauri also has a Mangala Kalash filled with sacred Haridra (turmeric), while Her divine weapon is the Gada (mace).
The Seven Incarnations of the Mother
Mata Shivagangagauri has incarnated seven times for the protection of the universe, and on every occasion, Bhagwan Kiratarudra has descended alongside Her.
The seventh incarnation is revered as Renuka Mata and Shree Tapobhairava Jamadagni.
Bhagwan Kiratarudra incarnated as Sage Jamadagni, the embodiment of Dharma and Tapasya while Mata Shivagangagauri manifested as Renuka Mata, the source of righteous conduct, unwavering chastity, and heroic valour. Their divine son was Bhagwan Parashurama.
The sacred fire associated with Aadimata's Atri-swarupa manifested in Jamadagni as holy righteous anger, while the Dharma embodied in Aadimata's Anasuya-swarupa manifested in Renuka Mata as Pativrata Dharma and the supreme knowledge of valour, which ultimately found expression in Parashurama.
The Sacred Haridra
In the Shivagangagauri Gadastotra, Mata Shivagangagauri is lovingly described as "Haridrāsthitā" (हरिद्रास्थिता)—She who abides in the sacred Haridra (turmeric), She who is established in Haridra.
जगदम्ब त्वं ब्रह्मास्त्रविद्या । हरिद्रास्थिता पीतवर्णा त्रिनेत्रा ।
Jagdamba Tvam Brahmastravidya | Haridrasthita Pitvarna Trinetra ||
This profound epithet reveals that Haridra is not merely a medicinal herb; it is a sacred medium through which the Stambhana Shakti—the protective and auspicious power of Mata Shivagangagauri—manifests itself.
Turmeric has been revered in Bharatiya tradition since time immemorial as a symbol of purity, auspiciousness, healing and protection. Modern science, too, recognises its remarkable medicinal properties, including its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and restorative qualities. Sadguru Shree Aniruddha Bapu reveals that these beneficial attributes are not merely physical characteristics of the herb, but expressions of the divine grace of Mata Shivagangagauri, who lovingly abides within the sacred Haridra. Thus, Haridra becomes far more than a medicinal substance—it becomes a living embodiment of the Divine Mother's benevolent presence, carrying Her healing, protective and auspicious vibrations into the lives of Her children.
The Sacred Haridra at Shree Aniruddha Gurukshetram
At Shree Aniruddha Gurukshetram, as per Sadguru Aniruddha Bapu’s sacred resolve, a Kalash filled with sacred Haridra (turmeric) is placed beside the photographs of the Shree Chandikakul. This Haridra symbolizes the turmeric that adorned Mata Renuka at the time of her going Sati and is therefore regarded by Shraddhavans as equally sacred and holy.
On Tuesday, 7th February 2012, Sadguru Aniruddha Bapu offered heartfelt obeisance to Renuka Mata and made this Haridra permanently available to all Shraddhavans as the final symbol and cherished remembrance of Mata Renuka.
Sacred Haridra in Auspicious Ceremonies
Shraddhavans may use this sacred Haridra during auspicious ceremonies and celebrations, especially weddings. A small quantity of this sacred Haridra may be mixed with the turmeric that is ceremonially applied to the bride and groom before the wedding. During the Haldi ceremony, the following traditional verses may be recited:
"माय माझी रेणुका रेणुका रेणुका आई
May mazhi Renuka Renuka Renuka aai
माय माझी राहते राहते माहूर गडावरी
Mai mazhi rahate rahate Mahur gadavari
हळद लावाया सत्वर आली धावूनी
Halad lavaya satvar aali dhavuni
माय माझी रेणुका रेणुका रेणुका आई"

My Mother is Renuka, Renuka, Renuka Bai,
My Mother dwells upon the sacred fort of Mahur.
Swiftly she comes running to apply the turmeric,
My Mother is Renuka, Renuka, Renuka Bai.
Shraddhavans firmly believe that when these verses are recited during the Haldi ceremony, the bride and groom receive the blessings of Mata Shivagangagauri.
This sacred Haridra carries the auspicious, pure, and benevolent vibrations that flow from the Chandikakul, enriching the lives of devotees while protecting them from inauspicious, impure, and negative influences. Just as Udi is applied daily, this Haridra too may be applied on the forehead as a mark of devotion and protection.
Shraddhavans firmly believe that whenever the sacred Udi or this Haridra is applied, no evil or adverse force can cause them harm.

This sacred Haridra has been made available to all Shraddhavans at Shree Aniruddha Gurukshetram and is available free of cost as a blessing of Mata Renuka.
