Looking back on the incident I am about to share, I say today that Yamraaj (God of Death) did come but my Sadguru kept him away.
On 5th August 2010, there was a cloud burst in Leh-Ladakh. This had caused tremendous damage to life and property. I along with 12 other people, was in a lodge, barely 20-25 minutes from site.
7 of us, employees of the Mumbai Port Trust, were returning to Chospa - our lodge in Leh-Ladakh after some sight-seeing. We were extremely tired and decided to go off to sleep as more sight-seeing was planned for the next day. The next day, when we woke up, we were told that there was a cloud burst in the night and all the transportation services had come to a standstill.
We decided to go to the place where the incident had occurred. What we saw sent shivers down the spine. My eyes welled up in gratitude for the unconditional love of Bapu. It was the same place we had visited a day earlier but it had a different appearance today. There was a Broadcast centre which was nowhere to be found. A 3-storeyed building was lying in rubble around 50-60 feet away from where it stood yesterday. All the vehicles were completely smattered. Many had died. The locals and tourists were engaged in rescue work. We joined them.
This place was 14,500 feet above sea level and the inadequate oxygen that we received, the rescue work was hindered. We were constantly getting calls from anxious relatives in Mumbai. They were worried watching the news channels that beamed images of this terrible tragedy.
In the midst of a horrible calamity, we were safe! Bapu answers the call of a loving heart. Irrespective of where we are, He comes to our rescue and that is certain - 108%! But then when the cloud burst happened, I was fast asleep. I was totally oblivious of the disaster that had struck the place. Where was the question of calling out to Bapu! ....and yet He protected all of us.
I quote here, Bapu's words from Satyapravesh:
I am with you, your companion, be sure;
At all times, whatever your course,
You may, though for a rare moment, forget Me;
I will not, never, that is My word.
