It was June 2009. We were on our way to our native place. The car left home. There were several obstacles in store on the way.
It was drizzling that day. Our car reached the Kharepatan turn and lost control. It banged against a rock and toppled to one side. We had met with an accident but had not realized the intensity of the incident. I composed myself and looked around to see that my elder son Nimesh had fallen off the car. The car had toppled to one side and my son was under it. He was almost crushed beneath the car and could barely breathe. Seeing that horrific sight all that I could utter in my heart was – Bapu! My Nimesh! Save my son!
The few passersby around managed to pick up the car and rescue Nimesh who was unconscious. My heart sank looking at him.
The place was relatively deserted. There was not a single vehicle in sight. My heart called out to Bapu. By Bapu’s grace an autorickshaw arrived. We were taken to the primary health care center at Kharepatan. However, considering Nimesh’s condition we were asked to take him to the district hospital. The locals there arranged for an ambulance to ferry Nimesh upto the hospital. Fortunately, even in heavy rains the ambulance managed to speed to the hospital.
Nimesh was admitted to the ICU in the hospital as he had vomited blood. I had also hurt my back badly, however, I ignored it and kept praying to Bapu to save my son. The senior doctor on examining Nimesh said that his lungs had been injured and that he would have to be shifted to a better equipped medical facility in Panaji, Goa.
Even as we were worried about how to ferry the boy to Goa so late in the night, the hospital administration arranged for an ambulance to take him there. We left immediately as the next 24 hours were critical for Nimesh. Throughout the drive I had Nimesh’s head on my lap. I kept chanting Ramraksha, Hanuman Chalisa and read the Aniruddha Upasana.
As soon as we reached Panaji, treatment on Nimesh started. Nimesh fought against death for two days. Finally, he was declared to be ‘out of danger’. All I could do was bow before Bapu in gratitude. The only reason we were out of the situation was Bapu’s immense grace.
My dear Bapu! It is You who have brought back my son from the clutches of death. He has been blessed with a new lease of life only thanks to you!
Bapu! May Your name be always on my mind and your image, forever in my eyes!
